The ceiling and crown moldings are original to the house. There is a wonderful company here in San Francisco called San Francisco Victoriana, http://sfvictoriana.com/. They carry or can create incredible traditional and Victorian architectural details.

I love this ceiling. My husband is putting in crown molding in LR/DR combo. Could the ceiling look possibly be captured with wallpaper?

Wallpaper on the ceiling is always a lovely way to treat a surface that often doesn't get a lot of attention. It won't have the depth that trim and molding provide but could be a nice design detail.
