I have one room that is a combo LR/DR. The room is good size and measures 12.5' by 31'. The problem is there is a fireplace on the outside wall right in the middle of the long wall (31'). I'd like to be able to have seating aorund the firplace, but that will leave little room for dining room table at one end and then there will be open, empty(?) space at the other end. I've typical chairs, couch and endtables to place.

There is a half wall between kitchen and DR part of room. there is an opening at the far end of LR to entrance hall and an opening directly into kitchen from DR.

Lots of large windows, so actual wall space is minimal.

any ideas would be helpful.
