Not at all. This room was done using a 4" D x 10" W or 6" D x 12" Poplar, all custom fabricated on site. Sorry, the job was over 2 years ago, cant remember what exact size. Room dimensions are 15x18.

I'm in love with the room. Do you recall how tall the ceilings are?

I've considered a soffit around the theater area like you have here, but worry it will shrink my room due to 8' ceilings.

9', I would be happy to design, engineer, and install a Home Cinema for you! This won Gold at CEDIA 2012 for best Home Theater Design and Install under 100k. We do work in several areas of the states, where are you located? Do you need help in design? I am leaving the office, but will be back in the morning. Most States require 7' clearance, but bulk heads or soffits are exempt.
