Finally starting our reno on our 1998 kitchen. ( builders grade oak cabinets, ceramic tile counter tops and ceramic tile floors. We are replacing all with creamy white Provincial cabinets with a few dark grey or black rub throughs for the upper corner and the Lazy Susan corner on the base. Also the sink base will be the same as the darker ones. Beautiful 33" fire clay sink with apron front. The counters as well as the Island will be Soapstone. All appliance are SS as well as the commercial faucet. We want to use black cabinet pull and knobs in keeping with our theme which is anything but contemporary . Don't think brushed nickel is the way to go with the lighting. We tried that with a piece on sale for our island. but it didn't provide enough task lighting nor did we really warm up to the nickle. Black or oil rubbed bronze is more our style. Would Edison Pendant or Dome lights give us enough lighting for food prep? How many? The island is about 50"
What about over the kitchen table which is bar height square hickory and black and much our taste. Can we use simple black 6 or 8 light candelabras for that area? Eventually we'd like to carry that same light to the entry way (3 lights perhaps) and again to the Dining Room . All these floors as well as kitchen, entry way, hall, LR/DR and laundry will be all be done in a medium toned 8" hickory plank laminate. The backslash is tumbled stone and glass subway tiles in natural tans and subtle grey/ green hues. What color palette should we use for the walls? Thanks in advance,
