i have a 2 story home. the stairway is open and the treads and handrail are stained oak to match the living room floor and the risers are white. the living room walls are painted a sage green.the original staircase was closed in with spindles that continued to the second level bedroom all were stained a dark mahogany which i stripped and redid in oak. i am currently redoing the upper levelbedroom and will since the upper floor is semi open and i am painting it a light tan with white trim i am wondering if i should paint the spindles white and strip top rail and stain it to match the handrail coming up the stairs »
This alcove is also a perch. Built for a small child, another place to watch the world go by, curl up with a book or take a nap. Certainly a nice place for a time out.
An alcove way up high. Who says window seats have to be chair-level? Climbing a short ladder up to this fun window seat separates you from everyone and everywhere else. I would feel like a little bird perched in my nest.
