Is your fireplace a true masonry fireplace, or is it a manufactured fireplace with refractory panels, like the one shown above?
If it is a masonry fireplace, you can have the interior re-lined with split firebrick in the herringbone pattern, but you'll lose above 2-3" of width in your fireplace opening, which will probably necessitate reworking the non-combustible surround - tile, granite, marble, brick - around your opening.
If you have a manufactured fireplace and that particular model came with a herringbone firebrick option, you can order the factory firebrick panels from the manufacturer through an authorized dealer.
You can find the make and model of a manufactured fireplace by searching for the data tag inside the fireplace opening (all wood fireplaces have them). The data tag is generally an aluminum plate about the size of a business card riveted inside somewhere. Sometimes it is behind the screen curtains on either side, sometimes it is above the firebrick inside the firebox. It is usually up high.
If you find out the make & model of the fireplace, but find out that your fireplace did not come with firebrick from the factory, there are "universal" herringbone firebrick panels that can be cut to fit your fireplace. This is a more difficult and more expensive project, but it would effectively change the look of your fireplace and give you many years of use.
