Michael grew up on Cape Cod and spent his days combing the shoreline for treasures. What a thrill it was to occasionally find the starfish clinging to a rock jetty in Cape Cod Bay. To honor the beauty of the New England shoreline Michael desgined a Starfish Doorbell Ringer. The tenacity of the starfish has been recognized since ancient times and has led to its use as a symbol of everlasting love. What better symbol to be displayed as a ringer on your home. Brass and bronze are copper-based alloys. The yellow brass alloy used in many of Michael's designs contains 70% copper and produces a warm, traditional brass look. Red bronze contains almost 85% copper. This additional copper content gives the bronze alloy its rich, reddish undertone. The mirrored finish of polished brass and polished bronze is achieved through varying degrees of sanding and buffing. Michael uses these techniques to highlight or accent the raised areas on a piece.
