This is a headboard made from an old door. My husband and I collaborated on this project. He built the outside frame, and I then painted and distressed the headboard. Project cost $40! LOVE IT!

Love this headboard. Can it be for a king size bed? »

Wow Great Place That looks to be a 5-panel door, turned on its side, with trim at the end and along the top edge. Doors are perfectly sized for headboards! Antiqued paint treatment makes it look vintage.
You should easily be able to google all sorts of DIY instructions on turning a door into a headboard!
Funny to see this. I made this headboard 11 years ago. It is now used in our guest room. It is such a big door that it was made for my knig bed, but we use it with a queen now, so it over extends.
Another great idea is to find an old door and add molding to the edges. Would still have room for my shelf, shutters and old architectural window above it.
