Inspiration for an eclectic bathroom remodel in Chicago

Bathroom redo with wallpaper

Eclectic Bathroom, Chicago

When we moved in, the bathroom had a tub under the window, a bad 80's remodel had replaced the original sconces, mirror and sink, with a huge oak vanity with the quad folding mirrors... and HUGE ball style bulbs. It never seemed right in there. Years ago, we needed an upgrade in the bathroom and I decided to turn the bifold door covered linen closet into a shower, we ordered a jetted tub and it came in with the plumbing on the wrong side... a happy accident, I decided to have a built in cabinet made instead, complete with glass covered doors and a Pull out style bin for dirty clothing. ( inspired by vintage kitchen flour bins) When we tore out the old 80's vanity and mirror, we found the wiring for sconces and a hole where an inset medicine cabinet and mirror were originally. Was refreshing to think we might have just restored it to its original glory! found the tile in the bathroom shower ( in the niche we made) on Ebay, the sink on Ebay, the mirror at a local flea market. A local builder created the wall unit and I found the wall paper... but it was discontinued, they found enough throughout the USA to complete the room, then I found the tiles for the shower walls, which played beautifully of both the inspiration tile in the niche and the wall paper. Finally, I designed a tile floor to mimic a rug. The craftman that installed the tile did a wonderful job!
