This table was built for a family of 8. They wanted a table inspired by 1800's design since their house was built in the late 1800's. I felt that in those times, the table would likely use what they had. It would not have any fancy turnings or round legs. This was a new design I had suggested and they loved it. It has 6 different types of reclaimed wood; oak, elm, sycamore, pine, ash, and hickory. The other thing I noticed from many images of 1800's tables is that the skirt ran around the outside of the legs rather than inset, so we used that here on this table. The long side boards are elm and they have the natural edge of the original tree as well as very detailed old insect markings that make it really unique. The table measures 8' long, 42" wide, 30" high with a 1 7/8" solid top. The legs average 6"x6" and are hickory and oak. This table is very heavy. The planks were rounded during sanding to maintain the individuality of each plank.
