Margie Grace - Grace Design Associates This is in Montecito, CA - southern coast of Santa Barbara County. The climate here is mild. This room is used pretty much year round. I don't see this room getting much use where you've got winter snow and summer insects...
Margie Grace - Grace Design Associates Ah! My client calls this a loggia --- it has the same roofing system as the house. The loggia is attached to the house and is, basically, another room like all the other rooms - just no walls/windows. There's lighting and heating (radiant heat in the floor (devine!), a ceiling fan, deep eaves, tile roof above attic space and ceiling. In our climate, this is an all-season "room".
ybot Does this room have any form of roof apart from ivy growing over the top? If not what happens if it rains? It looks like a pergola with ivy ,is that correct?
Margie Grace - Grace Design Associates My client calls this room a loggia. It has a complete roof like the rest of the house. The vine is Boston Ivy (Parthenocissus tricuspicata).
