This sinuous table is part of an ongoing design investigation into the qualities of interlocking and interwoven forms.
The table consists of two interlocking, curvilinear planks of bent mahogany with a steel base that is similarly made from interlocking bent pieces of ½” steel plate. There were significant technical challenges in the production of the bentwood top. The finished top has a subtle variety of color deriving from the many layers of 1/8” thick mahogany pieces, all bent to the same flowing, curvilinear shapes.
