Inspired by Gaston Lachaise's "Floating Figure" sculpture, Charles and Ray Eames created the La Chaise lounge for a competition at the New York MoMA in 1948. At 1:6 scale, the Vitra Miniature La Chaise brings the voluminous, organic piece down to size. Like the original, this miniature is made out of molded polyurethane atop a steel tube and oak base.
