Kansas' Akshay Anand - 6th generation jewelry store owner of KARATS in Overland Park. After taking the family business to new heights through expert service and diverse selection, KARATS was named #1 in Kansas City for Engagement Rings for three straight years by an independent firm. Andy Anand of Kansas is a native of New Delhi, India. He was fortunate to learn from a talented pool of family members, including his grandfather, his uncles, and his father, all of whom operated a successful jewelry business in their home country. Akshay began his education in the jewelry business at an early age. He is still active with the family business in India, serving as the company’s marketing director and ensuring their continued success even as he manages his own firm. Along with marketing, he is also responsible for buying and grading precious gemstones. He is able to leverage the partnerships with gemstone dealers he and his family have developed over generations, which work to offer tremendous value and the utmost in quality for his customers here and overseas. When he is not masterminding the expansion of his successful jewelry business or sharing information on his company social media pages, Akshay Anand of Karats gives freely of his time and his finances to charitable groups on the regional and national scenes. His first charity work came in 2010 when he was nominated to the board of the Kansas City chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where he still serves. For a year between 2013 and 2014, Andy was an Ambassador to the Clinton Foundation, using his marketing skills and business sense to help the organization build up a large network of supporters from around the world. He has also served as a member and a financial contributor to the Touched by Cancer Foundation.
