fiona4000 Docilana, I had a similar situation after getting rid of the ancient lace curtains in front of the window, and not wanting to replace them. I ended up using spray-on frosting to increase the opacity of the window but still let in the light. It loses its opacity when it gets wet so I put it on the outside which is under cover so doesn't get rained on. You could use it inside if you weren't going to splash the window. I did it over 10 years ago and it is still fine.

Brian J. McGarry Interiors n312, yes it is difficult to find sconces that work in small baths. I often use the medicine cabinets in the PL series from Robern (manufactured in Bristol, PA) that have narrow light kits that can be incorporated. (see pic) The cabinets come in sizes as small as 16" wide and the light kits add only 3" to the width. The "Solace" fixtures from Tech lighting are also fairly narrow and provide a good amount of light (see other pic) You always get more light output if the fixture is long rather than the short fixture you used as you have a longer lamp (bulbs are called lamps in the industry, light fixtures are fixtures). Think long and narrow for more output; the Robern fixtures and lamps are a minimum 30" tall. As stated in the accompanying article, lighting from the sides is always more functional. the article also touts the led lamps but often you will need to replace the entire fixture to update the lamps whereas fluorescent lamps are easily replaced. The newer generation of fluorescent lamps also provide good warm flattering lighting.
