Business Description
A woman owned and family run countertop fabricator in MD specializing in unique and unusual natural stones.

To work with Granite Grannies is to return to a time when quality was prized above quick fixes, when natural elements were custom crafted to last in your home for a lifetime, and when businesses truly believed that you, the customer, were the most important part of their business.

Granite Grannies is a fabricator and installer of custom natural stone countertops. We offer granite, marble, soapstone, quartzite, onyx, and quartz. We specialize in unique and off-the-beaten-path stones, whether exotic or standard priced. We also focus on custom design. We work with the customer to make sure the stone is not only designed with their lifestyle and tastes in mind, but also crafted to fit the unique space where it’s installed. We are a small, family and woman owned shop that focuses on one beautiful kitchen, bath, bar, or fireplace at a time. We are known in our community for having an unprecedented selection of beautiful stones, and a team that is courteous, professional, dedicated, and rather funny if we do say so ourselves.

Hopefully, someone will be able to suggest something similar. The main tile is probably a travertine, if that helps.

Sorry, I'm not sure. The homeowner had the tile installed separately.

That is Golden Beach Granite. If you're looking for something that looks like this, you should also check out Solarius Granite, which tends to look very similar, but fall in a lower price range.

Nope, not unless you want it to be. It might even be nice to have some contrast. If you have a cooler color in the bedroom, then maybe try a warmer color in the bathroom. New Venetian Gold Granite tends to look really good with warm neutrals and bold warm colors like burgundy or ox-blood. Or, if you wanted to stay on the cool spectrum in the bathroom, but have a bit of contrast, maybe consider something luxurious like an eggplant/ aubergine.

I would paint it a taupe grey to match one of the tiles on your frieze. This would make the bathroom cozy but also work with your silver blue. Definitely framed mirrors or artwork would add panache.

Neither standard polish or honed is difficult to maintain. It's just recommended that you seal once a year and don't use harsh chemicals or soap to clean them. Honed granite will actually reduce/ eliminate any issues with fingerprints, that's why a lot of our clients choose it over a polished Absolute Black Granite. Other than that particular stone, you aren't really going to see fingerprints or smudges much on any granite, standard polished or honed. Just go with whatever looks most beautiful to you.

We put "brown antique" granite in our kitchen. The surface is sueded with enhancer applied prior to installation. This finish is the easiest granite to maintain that we've ever had. It is dark, but shows no fingerprints, smudges etc. Textured granite is the way to go on any application.......

Sounds like you already have a lovely selection of colors already! Beautiful stone. It might be nice to see a splash of some dark color like burgundy or navy blue or maybe even a black to set off the rich contrast in the stone.

Neither granite or quartz will "wear" like you might see in a heavily used marble over many years. Both granite or quartz are fairly indestructible. The only difference is that since quartz is man made, if you do manage to dent, scratch, or chip it....it's nearly impossible to repair (just like how you can repair/refinish wood floor, but a laminate wood just has to be replaced). The difference in "maintenance" is so minimal. Just pick whatever looks most beautiful to you.

That looks like a New Colonial Cream Granite (or sometimes just called Colonial Cream Granite). You might also look at River White Granite for a very similar look.

The granite is probably a New Venetian Gold Granite, Giallo Ornamental Granite, or Santa Cecilia Granite.

For an exotic stone like this, you should use the "Find a Pro" tab on houzz to find a quality local granite fabricator near you who is used to working with exotic and unusual granite. Show them this picture, and they should be able to direct you to nearby suppliers so you can look at a large selection of full slabs and pick out exactly what you want.

Hi, unfortunately the home owner installed it herself after we did the countertops, so I'm not sure of the specifics.

3cm granite weighs about 17lb a square foot. So probably something around there for this. Anyone could lift it, but it's the kind of thing you usually just leave in one place permanently.

Thanks...I have a round granite table and a 22-24 inch lazy susan would be very nice in the middle. The company that installed my granite round table (54 " ) tells me that it would be too heavy for the table ..they quoted 75 lbs!! I didn't think that was possible. So, I am glad to think that if I order one from HOUZZ, it would be less weight.
thanks
