A woman owned and family run countertop fabricator in MD specializing in unique and unusual natural stones.
To work with Granite Grannies is to return to a time when quality was prized above quick fixes, when natural elements were custom crafted to last in your home for a lifetime, and when businesses truly believed that you, the customer, were the most important part of their business.

Granite Grannies That's Super White Quartzite (aka White Fantasy Quartzite). Quartzite is a completely natural stone quarried just like granite or marble. It tends to look like marble, but is harder than granite.

Granite Grannies Polished granite might be slippery as outdoor steps. Maybe you could do the Sahara Granite as the risers and a stone with more traction on the treads?
17 hours ago · Like

basiajj I meant not polished granit, I was showed Sahara granit with very rough surface just like blue stone and was told it is being used as steps too. My worry is will maybe stain since the color is light. Please comment.

Granite Grannies If you grill all year, you will definitely get your money's worth out of a built in. However, if it's not in your budget right now, get the $800 freestanding and plan to sell it and put in the outdoor kitchen in a few years. If you go with the freestanding now, it will be a great way to tide you over until you feel comfortable paying for a whole outdoor kitchen.
If you do go with the whole kitchen, make sure you aren't spending 4k on a boring granite. Get something that is beautiful to you and will make you smile everytime you walk outdoors to grill.
You could also do a compromise between the two ideas:
Create a nice outdoor counter area that accommodates a freestanding grill.

Granite Grannies Not necessarily. With a wood furniture piece like this, you can just add a layer of shellac or some other waterproof material to protect the wood. I did it in my own powder room:

Granite Grannies This is a Yellow River Granite, although Yellow River is looking a little differently lately. It would still look great with cream and cherry cabs. My other recommendation for that combination would be:
Fire Bordeaux Granite (aka Crema Bordeaux) Fire Bordeaux Granite (aka Crema Bordeaux Granite
Chocolate Bordeaux Granite
Chocolate Bordeaux Granite (looks orange in the picture, but it's actually more brown)
Golden Crystal Granite
Golden Crystal Granite
Davidsonville,MD Custom Country Estate
and
Typhoon Bordeaux Granite
Typhoon Bordeaux Granite with Full Backsplash
Typhoon Bordeaux Granite
Hope this helps!

Synergy Design & Construction So strange Jane...I'm wondering if it was sealed properly by your installers? You should definitely not have that problem!
20 hours ago · Like

Granite Grannies I agree with Synergy. You should not have that problem. Go buy 100% silicone sealer and set aside 15 minutes to seal your granite. You shouldn't have any issues after that.

shain95 There are granites that have the look of Carrara marble. That way you get the hard durability of granite (which won't stain) and the timeless look of marble.

Hendel Homes Granite countertop, names differ from state to state. I would recomned bringing this picture in to your local vender. Thanks for your interest! www.hendelhomes.com

Granite Grannies Actually, granite names are fairly consistent. It's the colors and pattern that change as the stone from the same spot in a quarry comes out different that you get a lot of variation. The perimeter looks like a honed Absolute Black Granite.

CMR Interiors & Design Consultations Inc. The ivory is just too much yellow in one room. Plus the cabinets are golden so its too much. The grey will temper this. Though not sure this is the exact right shade? Plus with granite, I prefer a ceramic-its more sophisticated than glass.

iloveittwo I THINK THE IVORY IS JUST TO BLAN. OK ILL TRY TO FIND OTHER CHOICES. THANKS U ALL.

Granite Grannies If you want a simple look, a white subway tile would be a nice contrast. You could go with a ceramic tile or you could do a travertine subway like this kitchen:

ECLECTIC BY DESIGN Are you opposed to painting the oak cabinets? Egyptian Glass tiles in the 1x1 mosaic are great! A lot of colors to select from. Ate you tying to go with a more contemporary / modern look?

alyssakuhn I forgot to mention that the upper part of the wall will be the rest of the slab, with a wooden mantle placed across the seam between the two pices of granite. There will be a TV above mantle. The slab was milled down to 1" thick,,,

Granite Grannies @jmaurry Since we're on the east coast, I don't know what suppliers/ distributors are near you. You should try finding a fabricator (installer) you trust, and ask them to send you to all their suppliers. Sometimes it can be hard to find the suppliers because they only market themselves to fabricators.
