I got the idea for our magnet boards from a Jason Statham movie. Purchased 3x4 ft steel sheets from a nearby metal shop and had them powder coated. Mostly used for photos that we don't want relegated to the hard drives, but at the same time don't need to be matted and framed. Magnets make the photos and cards easy to change.

This house reminds me of the house in the movie "What About Bob?" (which is a gorgeous house).
I love the updated landscaping and pathway arbor! Now we need the tour of the inside :)

I love species tulips, but unfortunately so do the rabbits and deer, so I have had to give them up. Because they are so low-growing (and many are early-blooming) companion planting with daffs or anything else really does not work. T. biflora (or Clusius), T. praestans fuselier and T. turkestanica are all good performers though--they do not have to be dug up, and will naturalize. They even came back pretty well after being eaten year after year, I just got bummed at having one day of blooms (on chewed up plants) before they were eaten. I'll try them again if I get fencing.

I need 4 barn door rollers (with bearings) to attach 2 Indian-style 'Shenai' doors (from Shikara Designs QLD) to the masterbed ensuite and WIR.
I was inspired by the international houzz website to have barn doors, but now I need an Aussie barn door roller/wheel supplier- any suggestions???
P.S. I am really looking forward to seeing more local house products in this format now the Australian version of houzz has been launched!

Hi fintanmurray1. If you go to the article and look at the comment string at the close of it, I believe the homeowner answered the beam question there. As for the floor, they are Dark Hickory from Summit Forest Products.

Great article Laura. I grew up on a farm and so I'm drawn to many aspects of the farmhouse "style". I have a studio apartment with slab door cabinets and built-ins, but my murphy bed is covered in the quilts and afghans my grandmothers made for me, and my 1970's no-style brick ranch has shaker style furniture (made more "modern" with Ikea knobs) and a bed with a chenille bedspread. My grandmother, who had the not so glamorous job when she was young of slaughtering chickens, has her house decorated with roosters, and my parents, who raise horses and cows, have both animals in their artwork and decor. Personally (and I'm an interior designer) my least favorite "style" is a completely, professionally designed home or space with nothing that reflects the personality and lifestyle of the homeowner...
