Mike Randall is a Studio Furniture Maker who works in a West Coast Modernist style. He has a love for curved forms and bent lamination, and often integrates metal into his designs. Wherever possible, he uses locally-sourced materials.

Mike’s work has been displayed at the Collective Works Gallery during the 2011 Chair Exhibition, titled “Respect Your Alders,” and has also been shown at the 2010 Vancouver Island Woodworkers Guild Exhibition. He has produced display stands for artisans at Victoria’s Moss Street Market and Owl Christmas Fair.

Mike is a graduate of the Fine Furniture Program at Camosun College. His ‘past lives’ have included careers as a professional skipper of power and sail boats, and in forestry. He was born and raised in the UK, but came to Canada in 1999, and currently resides in Victoria, BC, with his wife and two children.

Kurva is a Swedish word meaning bend, or arc, and the name Kurva Design reflects Mike’s love of both curved design and the Swedish country style of simple, clean, modern lines.
