Paintbox Garden This is Japanese hakone grass - sometimes called Japanese forest grass. Use it in sun to part shade for a specimen or for massing, a good perennial for texture.

Paintbox Garden Not sure but probably wooden or metal post supports, something strong enough to support the weight.

Paintbox Garden This is the Alpine Garden at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris - not one I've designed! Looks like a regular gravel path and a wooden footbridge over the small stream.

merrigay Thank you for the link to the Hotel Dieu. Sounds like a good possibility should I ever have the luck to go back to Paris. I also agree that articles on secret gardens and vertical gardens would be appreciated. Love Houzz.

tttr If you are at Musee Carnavalet you should continue on to Place des Vosges, the most beautiful square in Paris! Then cross the river and head to the very beautiful Luxembourg Gardens . Don't miss the Fontaine de Medicis!

Peggy Reller We were there last June, and I fell in love with Giverny. Thank you for the Spring photos. They inspire me in creating new meandering paths and colorful beds at home.

Juli Carter I was there in late October, after most of the blooming, and it was still wonderful! If you don't want to drive, there are also guided bus tours (ours was funny!) http://giverny.org/tour/

thebsquared01 Durban South Africa and Maputo Mozambique both have beautiful and interesting Art Deco buildings. There is a lot of movement to restore the Art Deco buildings in Durban to their former glory, and I love seeing the true colours being recreated.

Paintbox Garden This was photographed at the High Line in New York City. My guess is that's carex planted in mass beneath the redbud (not a turf grass that you'd see in a lawn). Great color combination!

Paintbox Garden This is aronia which is commonly called red chokeberry, the cultivar is 'Brilliantissima' (Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima'). It's an adaptable native shrub for full sun to part shade, zones 4-9. Outstanding fall color!

Paintbox Garden I took this photo on a garden tour, sorry I can't help with ID specifics but the pinkish purple flower looks to be a cranesbill geranium which are good spreaders.
