The best solution is to ask the place you purchased the pendant from or read the instruction manual. Different brands are made with different electrical options.

Doug Fir is more reddish in color and has a finer grain than the pine which is very yellow and has more grain. Red Elm is closer in color to Doug Fir and closer to pine in grain. I would go with the Doug Fir.

I really like the first one and the bookcase. The first one takes the cake because the books is too repetitive. I think the bookcase adds depth to the room, I would take a picture of an awesome library wall, print it on a wallpaper and use that but I do really like the first one too.

By the way. :)

While working on the project we developed several different ceiling design options and presented them to the client (another example is attached), but this is what he chose.

The whole idea of the ceiling design was forced by the existing ceiling structure with several weird looking structural beams running across the room. So we had to come up with something to make it look as if it was intentional.

I spend a lot of time in the living room, unless I'm making breakfast or dinner. If I'm home with free time, I'll be found in my quilting studio or working in the garden.

A fire pit would greatly add to the tone set by the running water of waterfall and stream, as well as any pool or hot tub in the yard. Not to mention, adding a walkway to follow along the stream would really top things off.

Window treatments will add a lot interest to the bay window. A small writing desk with a chair might work in that space.

Looks like you need the light the bay windows let into the room, so I wouldn't build a traditional window seat for this bay.You already have stools at the counter. Doesn't look like you need more storage. Only new idea I can think of is if you could use a desk or plant shelf, build it from plexiglass or heavy glass to let light shine through it. Supports would be between the windows and on the right and left where there is a small amount of wall surface. Recessed, downward lighting in the ceiling would make this area a focal point at night and provide light for a plexi shelf-desk surface. I tend to like cloth Roman shades in bays.

Wood floors are considered for their aesthetic value, texture/grain, color and look. wood is wood, it will wear but that's part of the charm and you can always refinish it (even some of the engineered). When selecting wood floors, plan for the future too.

Our world is under constant attack, we all must do our part. If you don't consider the environment than you are a part of the problem. everything designed should be done with consideration of the environment. You don't have to be LEED Platinum certified but don't disregard it altogether either.

Think medieval times castle, crossbows, bows and arrows, assault rifles, hand guns, hunting rifles, shotguns. lots of dry food and garden beds within (will require an interior court yard), on site well and rain collection ability. Solar power and some fun board games!

Since the mudroom is a short stay type of room, by the time the radiant heating will start warming the floors, you'd be leaving anyway. If you leave it on all the time, it's a huge waste of energy. I vote no radiant heating in the mudroom.

Our mudroom set up sounds very similar to yours except ours is only 9x9. We put in radiant heat and it can definitely heat it adequately. However, ours is on a concrete slab and this winter was very harsh, so we kept it at a low setting to cut heating costs.

Where are you located? If you are on the east coast, you will need that mudroom with two kids however, in California, a den will be a better use of space.
