About Us

My specialty is outdoor living design with a background and study in interior design. I take pride in creating functional and aesthetic outdoor living spaces with good energy. My inspiration comes from the balance and flow each space is capable of achieving, and is executed with my attention to detail. I specialize in realistic, 3-D design, so each client's project can be uniquely viewed through conceptual images and virtual video. When you can visualize your new space before construction begins, the design process is informative and fun, like it should be! Designs may include swimming pools, spas, decking, hardscapes, landscapes, outdoor lighting, fireplaces, fire-pits, water features, fountains, fire features, courtyards, outdoor kitchens, pergolas/shade structures, zen gardens, herb and veggie gardens, putting greens, sport courts, driveways, entries, exterior architecture, and more. Sonia was exactly what we needed in helping us bring our vision to life. Our backyard was okay before, but we needed a refresh, more connectivity and better functionality on our nearly 1/4 acre yard. And we don't have a pool, so we really needed some creativity. Sonja listened to our concerns, came back with a few drafts, was able to save and improve upon some of our existing structures. And the major plus was the built-to-scale plans, beautiful and vivid visual renderings and video. We are nearing completion using our own contractors, but are so happy with how things have turned out. We've tried this thing before without having a plan in the past and only had to come back years later to change it. So, do yourself a favor and hire Sonja to create your plan or complete your project from start to finish. It made things so much easier and her creativity was beyond anything we could have dreamed in our own heads. You won't regret it! Will add photos when the project is completed.

Sonja of OM Design was great to work with and we feel very lucky to have found her. We love the design and it was well worth the money not to be dependent on the builder for the design. The builders have their own priorities and often lack the creative ability to deliver a truly unique design. While Sonja had recommendations for a builder, we never felt any pressure to use them and ended up finding a builder on our own. Even though we did not use her recommended builder, she continued to work with us and helped us through the process. She has the experience to help avoid mistakes. If you are going to spend this kind of money on a dream backyard, you should make sure it turns out exactly the way you want it to. Sonja can do that for you.

Picking a contractor to bring your vision to life can be challenging. We thought we knew what we wanted when extending the living space in our backyard until we had the opportunity to work with Sonja at OM Design. Sonja was amazing to work with in our backyard complete remodel. She met with us and listened to exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t have even imagined our yard to turn into what it has. I liked that she would do anything from just a project concept design to taking over and running the entire project. I elected to subcontract the project out myself and Sonja was so helpful with contacts that she had in the industry for different things I needed. She also helped a ton with my wife and I as we were so indecisive about finishes. She went and helped us with picking out our finishes and even took us around and showed us some of her other projects she completed to help us get an idea with some of the finishes.
