Southern Scapes

Southern Scapes is a full service landscaping company serving Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley. Chris Mathias’ interest in horticulture and landscaping began as a young boy when he helped his mother operate her plant nursery. As football player at Broadway High School, he realized that he wanted to start his own landscaping business. He loved Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley and knew there was no other place he would rather launch an endeavor in landscaping. After Chris finished high school, he left the valley for a short while to study Landscape and Turf Management at Virginia Tech. Armed with this new knowledge, Chris enthusiastically returned to Broadway and started Southern Scapes with his wife, Karena. For almost a decade now, Southern Scapes has been making the Shenandoah Valley even more beautiful.
