Utah Basement Company

Utah Basement Company finished my brand new Ivory Home basement. I was referred to them by my superintendent and later found out they have finished a lot of basements in my neighborhood. They did a superb job. They promised me 7-8 weeks to finish my 1900 sq ft and the work was completed 2 weeks late, due to my inability to finalize the design of the kitchen. Everything was within budget though and I wasn't asked to pay for anything more than what was initially agreed to. The workers were so respectful of my home and I felt comfortable enough to go visit them while they were working. I loved that they cleaned up every night. My wife and I would walk it every night and text Jen if we had any questions or concerns. Overall, I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a beautiful basement in their home. They are professional, creative, friendly and completely reliable. My dad, who is a retired contractor raved about their professionalism and neatness/cleanliness. Thanks again guys!

We recently decided to completely finish our basement. Utah Basement exceeded our expectations regarding quality, customer service and follow-through on promises. The finished basement was ~1500 sqft, and included 3 bedrooms, a bathroom/shower, a full sized wet-bar and a theater room (with fireplace). They always worked with us and were very flexible, the team is made up of can-do attitude employees. Example: during framing we felt a wall was off by 6" and by the time I came back that evening the wall was moved, no questions asked. All projects had high attention to detail, no short cuts. Throughout the project they treated our house with respect and care, and employees always answered with "we want you to be happy" ...and we are. Our family loves the new space! Thank you Todd, Jen, Mario, Jose and all the others that helped our family!

I hired this company based off of pictures I had seen on their website and credits they were willing to give me where other companies would not. However, way to many errors, no crew members knew how to speak English, walls were not straight and If you are the type of person(s) who does not like communication hire this company, they are great at not communicating to anyone on what is going on. The end result was good but the process was pretty bad.

We just finished with our basement project with Utahbkb and wanted to get online to share a little bit about our experience. We were really happy with the quality of the work and the workers that were in our home. They knew what they were doing and we trusted their expertise. My wife felt safe while she was home and while they were there. The management team was really good to work with and quick to respond to our texts. We knew what to expect and when to expect it. Whenever there was a change on our part, they were patient with us and we could tell they really cared about getting it the exact way we wanted it. There was a minor delay on their part and another delay on ours (we couldve been faster choosing our colors). However, we were really happy about how they worked with us and treated us fairly the whole time. And we really loved how they left the basement clean every night. We would gladly refer them with confidence.

I gave my kitchen work to Utah. These guys are awesome they truly dedicate towards works. They note each and every small request and keep work on it. Also staff continually stays in touch with you. After work staff cleans every small pieces of raw-material. I recommended Utah to others...

I was in dilemma when I was first come to Houzz. I thought who is best who give me satisfactory service. Finally I go with Todd and Utahbkb. I just finished my kitchen remolding work with them. I have to say they work are awesome they do what they commit. Staff listen carefully every words and keep note of it. After work staff make place clean.. One thing I like most is there continues interaction with us and keep update us and take my feedback on that change..

Todd (the owner) is extremely upfront and honest about everything on the contract and all the intricacies off the contract, what to expect while his crews are working, and anything else he might have sound advice about. He was always professional and courteous and always kept me and my wife informed on what stage of completion he was on and when/if the workers were coming out that day. Also, if there is a problem with any of his workers, he handles it promptly with zero rebuttals and continues to get the job done. I recommend his company to anyone out there looking to finish their basement.

First off, I had no idea what houzz was till about an hour ago when Todd Cella called me. Pretty cool website. I'm defininatly bookmarking it. So, I hired Todd and his company in March of 2015. We got quotes from a lot of companies on Ksl.com and decided to go with them because we liked Todd and trusted him. We read all his reviews and decided he was our guy. They didn't start until they had a permit in hand and that ended up being the last week of March. As of today, April 15, all that's left is painting. They have flown through my project and my wife and I are ecstatic we hired them. The first week was crucial. They go so fast, if you change your mind on anything, you have to let them know fast. They had sheetrock up in the second week. I'm really happy with the workers. They have worked hard everyday. They don't listen to loud music or anything like that. They are all very respectful. We are so excited for our family to come into town at the end of this month. They are gonna love staying with us!

Pros: - Didn't sweat $1 sq ft bid difference in carpet we selected - Owner came down and fixed sagging door that the construction caused. - Gave me a free electrical outlet install upon request - Credited me for damages caused from poor delivery miscommunication and actions. - Paid for expensive window shutter installation after their PM promised. He was later fired for causing so many issues with me and others. - Nice owners. Manners questionable. Cons: I could go on all day with examples of each bullet: - Didn't hold up to their process in the sales process that they said they do. - Terrible internal communication and an inability to communicate needs with employees and contractors - Employees don't act on what the company sells in terms of process and communication - Sub-par quality (e.g. uneven drywall, bumps, dings and holes) - Require a lot of micromanagement and reminders - Don't listen or note requests as they should - Never responded when I emailed them about the works leaving the gate open and my dog escaping - Contract out quite a few things though claim everything's done from in-house employees - Forgot many basic items - Many examples of unprofessionalism in areas while very professional in others - My dad, a construction worker, said they did poor quality work to the trained eye. - Installers said they cut corners on plumbing with pipes and plates, and ran it wrong thus leading to them drilling through a water main and flooding my basement the day after finishing. - Basement didn't pass inspection. Had to come back and move light, twice. Summary: I feel bad complaining about their because they covered so many expenses and things for me that they didn't have to, I feel, to make it up to me. But people need to know what they're up against before hiring these guys.

I just finished my basement with Todd and Utahbkb and was really impressed with their speed and quality. I got 5 estimates and went with them because of their reviews online and their price. They werent the cheapest, but I felt paying an extra 2k was worth getting their organization. There were a few hiccups with the city and some minor issues/corrections along the way, BUT the way they handled it was so professional. I could tell they only cared about being fair to me and protecting their reputation. I would highly recommend them!

So happy i hired them. They really tried their best the whole time. I loved working with Todd directly on my project and the finishers were all talented and clean. This is a really good family company and i highly recommend inviting them to give you an estimate. They impressed from start to finish.
