Houzz Call: Share Your Thanksgiving Tablescape!
Please share photos and tell us about your Thanksgiving decor and traditions
Happy Thanksgiving, Houzz readers! We know you’re busy this time of year, but, if you can, please share a photo of your Thanksgiving tablescape in the Comments. We’d also love to hear about your traditions — the people you celebrate with, what you serve, special family tablescape pieces you use and how you put together all your decorations. Your photos and comments may be used in next year’s story.
In the meantime, check out the beautiful Thanksgiving tablescapes and stories Houzz users shared last year and see if they spark any inspiration or conjure any favorite memories. Have a wonderful holiday, and we hope you enjoy these beautiful contributions from the Houzz community!

The deep red wall color in Houzz user jimmywade‘s dining room looks as though it were chosen for Thanksgiving. It plays perfectly off the cluster of gourds, acorns, pears, flowers, branches and candles in the center of the table. “My wife put together the floral centerpiece,” he wrote. “Had a great Thanksgiving meal with friends!”
Houzz reader Laura Kinsella saved her mother’s china to use on Thanksgiving last year. “My mom passed away a year ago and I finally get to use her china today,” she writes. “I know she’s beaming in heaven!”

For Houzz user Stephanie D, Thanksgiving is a time to pull out the vintage glass collection and borrow other favorite holiday pieces. “I showed off my vintage glassware, borrowed my mom’s silver gravy ladle and used a glittery candle ring for the centerpiece, which my mom bought in NYC 50-plus years ago,” she wrote.
As for the meal, her description will make you hungry. “We always deep-fry the turkey and make the best collard greens, stuffing and apple-cranberry casserole,” she wrote. “My mom and aunt bring other sides and there’s always homemade pumpkin and apple pies. Needless to say, we do eat too much but enjoy the time spent with family.”

The centerpiece can determine which tableware items you’ll use. Conversely, sometimes it’s best to lay down the tableware you’re going to use and plan the centerpiece around it.
“We had a lovely early Thanksgiving with part of our family,” writes Houzz reader daustin55. “I enjoyed using family heirloom china, crystal and sterling with new fun place mats and napkin rings!” Flowers were added after the places were set.

What’s on the menu? One Houzz user shared the mix of dishes their family would be enjoying last year.
“This year my family will be serving for nine-plus guests. On the menu will be a mix of Chinese, Hmong, Laotian and American-inspired dishes. To name a few, eggrolls, papaya salad, Hawaiian sliders, wonton soup, butternut squash soup and sticky (sweet) rice,” Houzz user Gao Lee wrote. “We will serve buffet-style, therefore giving more room to having a decorated dining table, which is one of my favorite festivities during the holidays! Aside from decorating the table as a fave, I also can’t wait to prep this meal with my children!”

Lee brought up a key decision that affects tablescape planning and design: whether to serve buffet-style or leave room for serving dishes to pass around the table.
Houzz reader Sherryl took advantage of the extra room on the table that serving buffet-style affords. A lovely cornucopia-inspired centerpiece and fall leaves bring Thanksgiving traditions to her Willis, Texas, table.

On the flip side, Houzz user Peter Barnard preferred to keep the food dishes on the table.
“Ours put the food front and center, surrounded by formal place [settings] and tied together with new linens,” he wrote. “The overall look was more than a little chaotic but set an energetic mood.”
