“For years I had been searching for a small dining table in a dark, earthy brown. I wanted it to pull in history like a whirlwind, kick up the raw smell of dirt, tumble the rugged American West into the rustic Spanish countryside. Maybe I have a weakness for marketing. But Pier 1 Imports and Crate & Barrel had lured me with their romantically named “Arapaho” and “Basque” furniture sets. The problem was, like a lot of major retailers, they did not offer such dining tables in smaller sizes. I kept looking. Finally, this summer I came across the website of Saltwoods. At last, a local studio that lets you customize every element from dimensions, to wood species, to color! The variety of choices is amazing. I picked a stain called “tobacco” on white oak and the vision of my Basque table was complete. Now my dining area is so warm and inviting – I feel there’s a fireplace even when there isn’t. The food and wine taste better. It was impressive, too, that despite global shortages of raw material and labor, the production was completed sooner than projected. The price fit my budget and the entire Saltwoods team was a pleasure to deal with. They worked with me to get the details just right, and really seem to take pride in their work. The guys who made the table also delivered it. Customer service is first class. I’m so happy to have found this studio. It’s now one of the first places I shop when I need something special. “How did we not hear of this place earlier! We purchased our coffee table, kitchen table w/chairs, breakfast bar stools and night stands. The furniture is extremely well made with actual wood, no veneer! We received one-on-one service and never felt pressured. We came back again to look for a bar height table and while we loved the stand we weren't thrilled with the top, so what did Manzel recommend? We will take the top off for you and replace with a different wood species. Where else can you get this type of service? Enough said, we will be back!”
