I love reading the comments on Houzz. Everyone seems friendly and positive. So different from other online forums.

Also, looking at hello2karrie's photo bowl, I got an idea I might try at my own house. Get a large piece of glass cut for the coffee table (I have a local window glass company that will cut it to whatever size I want and soften the edges), putting photos underneath. Fairly easy to change the photos, a large space to display them, and I won't have to bark at my teenagers anymore for not using coasters!

My husband and I built the ledges in the first two photos ourselves for under $30. In fact we built four for the money and ended up taking two to Goodwill when it was two too many. We have twenty thumbs between us but even we figured it out by looking at tutorials on Pinterest. The ledges in the third and fourth photos were built by our builder. We have a lot of art, none particularly valuable, but I love swapping it out.

I like to take 4 scrapbook pages and mount them (temporarily) in a huge frame above my desk. Then I switch them out every couple of months and get to enjoy my pages much more that when they are just stuck in my book. The kids love to come over and check them out too.
