I am having trouble finding where to purchase floating shelves. I can't find too many options. Please send links. Also, what depth should they be if they are to hold plates?
thank you!

Floating shelves are all over the place from Amazon to Target or Wally World, from Houzz to Container Store, Wayfair, cb2, 1stdibs for designer stuff, Ikea, any hardware box store or even DIY.

What you need to look at are the following:

1. size - you mention dinner plates - what size? They range from 8-9" on up to 14". If yours are t typical 12", then go for 12" depth.

2. Weight - depends on how installed - with drywall anchors - most support up to 75 pounds including the shelf. If you drill into wall studs, you can hold more.

3. Also consider length of each shelf as well as thickness. This gets into your decor and how you want the shelf to look. If you want longer or thicker than the average bear, go with DIY and pick your own stock. Do you want solid wood or prefer lighter plywoods or even plastic or glass shelves. Do you prefer a live edge or straight. How about reclaimed wood? Industrial or super contemporary or perhaps mid century modern

4. And there are many different types of brackets from those you see to those you don't.

Many choices for you to consider. To go shopping for various types and styles, try Etsy - for floating shelves and brackets. There are over 100 pages for you to browse. :)
