I like the window in the shower stall. Can you tell me what type of window, and how it is waterproof? Also, does the window appear frosted from the outside?

Thanks for your answers!

I too am interested in what makes the window private as I am about to buy a house with 3 windows in the shower and want to make it private.

I agree with you guys, this is a really nice looking bathroom. I really like the way that the shower looks the most. The tile is really beautiful, and the glass door adds a very nice touch. I think that biggest selling point is the shower head hanging down from the ceiling. I bet that gives off so much water. http://www.gsclacrosse.com/services

Hi michellepayomo. To get this type of look you need a stone tile that does not have veining on every single tile. I have attached 3 images. You can see the subway tile has tiles that are 'blank' you need blanks to create a "less busy" look. Our 3x6" Subway Tile which can create this very look is online just $7.00SF: http://www.thebuilderdepot.com/cama3xsuti.html

It also comes in different sizes, from 2x4", 3x6", 4x8", 4x12" 12x24" and so on.

For information: Classic Bianco Carrara which represents 80% of all the Carrara out in the market place has the look of 100% veining (image attached) it is pretty and costs just $7.50SF for a 3x6" Subway Tile. But will not create the same look in this bathroom. Showing in the Bianco image is 12x24" Carrara Bianco $10.95 square foot: http://www.thebuilderdepot.com/cacbipo6x24.html

I would love to also know the brand that was used - I'm having a hard time finding a vinyl window that doesn't have giant factory mulling. This one looks very nice!

yes, and heaven help you if you don't keep up the sealant and then drop anything oily on the marble.. Of course, you also don't want to use any hair coloring agent when you shower.

marble will stain, but the stains fade. the grout on marble is no different in upkeep to that used with a porcelain or ceramic

Many thanks! The glass company I used confirmed this, though due to the size of my shower it wouldn't have worked. But it is good to post so that others may benefit!

Sonneman has a similar fixture. I'd look on Bellacor or Circa Lighting. Also, Houzz's search box gives you an option to click on "products" and you might find it there. We've got lots of products identified and you'll find lots more!

VanGo Shower Glass

This isn't my project, and I like the look of the bathroom overall, but the shower glass installation is curious.

The bottom would have been finished with silicone-only, which is fine. But glass-mount door is less secure (and relatively expensive) compared to wall-mounting. I also find the hinges in the middle of the shower and 2 clips at the ceiling to be visually distracting.

If you were interested in copying this design, a stronger, more cost-effective, arrangement would be to mount the door on the wall, and have 3 clips for the sidelight; 2 on the wall and only 1 on the ceiling.

this was custom made. sounds complicated but any cabinet make can make the frame and coordinate with a glass and mirror supplier. something like this would be 3-500

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Beth Dotolo, ASID, RID, NCIDQ added this to Style Update: Tile Gets in Line
While the last image was slightly more transitional, this bathroom is an example of a contemporary space using a more traditional material. The marble lining the shower surround installed in a stacked pattern works well with the rest of the modern space. The grid pattern is a perfect contrast to the organic veining of this natural material.
Jen L'Italien added this to How to Keep Your Home's Beautiful Glass Sparkling Clean
Daily maintenance is the best way to battle soap scum in the shower. Wipe down the glass shower door using a squeegee — move from top to bottom. If you notice water spots on your glass (even with regular upkeep), your system may have very hard water that's leaving behind deposits of minerals. Consider installing a water softener, or you'll continue to battle your hard water.
Vanessa Brunner added this to Readers' Choice: The Top 20 Bathrooms of 2011
12. The contrasting stone tiles in this space add style without adding unnecessary décor. Users wanted to know all about the stunning dark wood vanity, and the way the designer fogged up the window in the shower for privacy.
Shawn Gauthier added this to 12 Tricks for Updating the Bathroom
Consider a glass shower door. Yes, glass shower doors reduce the privacy of the shower. However, in small bathrooms, they help the space seem larger, which can greatly improve the look and feel of the room.
Kristy Woodson Harvey and Beth Woodson added this to Airy Bathrooms See the Light
1. Leave the windows in. When making over a bathroom, sometimes it can be tempting to cover up the windows. But if light and inviting is the look you're trying to achieve, leave them in. We aren't fans of the neighbors seeing us shower, but waterproof shades can remedy that problem.
