The attic in this Victorian seaside house was massively renovated to make a guest room that takes full advantage of all the roof lines and dormers. The fir matchboard ceilings and hickory floors make this space old and new at the same time. In other words, timeless!

This bedroom is tucked away in the timber frame and overlooks the entire living room/kitchen/dining room. The room is flooded with light from the skylights. Timbers are from a repurposed tobacco barn and mix well with the existing stone walls. Roof is aluminum sheets covered with Structural Insulated Panels to make it a warm, cozy space. This timber frame was repurposed from an old tobacco barn, cleaned, crafted and erected on the property. The combination of timbers, stone and windows creates an amazing view for this great room. Timber Framer: Lancaster County Timber Frames / General Contractor: Historic Restorations.

This area joins the gym area with the stairway with the sitting area and comes complete with a swing for the lofted area. A Garden room separating garage from house proper. A repurposed tannery bench found and detailed by the architect creates this handsome room. Earthy and elemental materials are selected for the home that reference the barn without directly mimicking it. Wooden members found inside the barn and from other barns bridge ceilings and are used in floors along with rustic slate adding to a sense of simplicity to the farmhouse design.

The sunroom addition extends the entertaining space and allows the homeowners to comfortably use the room year-round. It features a coffered ceiling and a Rumford fireplace composed of repurposed barn beams and fieldstone to tie into the home's exterior. The large windows provide natural light and showcase the pastoral views (note the red barn).
