Kelly helped us through a major remodel in 2015 for children's bedrooms, play room and the entire lower level and kitchen of our property. Kelly's ability to "see" space, colors and dimension was the key differentiator for us.
His professionalism, patience, and ability to keep the project moving in a timely manner was a game changer. As a young family trying to sometimes live in the space during the remodel, it took a very special person to manage us, the project, the GC, and all parties involved in the project. We have recommended him countless times and will continue to do so.
The remodel completed in 2015 and still today - it looks and feels new! We love it and would recommend Kelly and his team at 2 Blue Chairs for any project!

I have a challenging project for a rebuild of a house that was burned in a fire. Kelly has helped me through the process of planning during the architecture phase and now in the complete structural design phase. I has done 3 other major home renovations over the years and this is by far (amazingly, given the disruption in my life) the best experience with the most value added considerations. He has worked very well with my architect, Jay Corder and my builder, Shiloh Travis. It is a real team experience with everyone's best ideas integrated. I am so looking forward to the end result and then having FUN with Kelly helping me chose the decor. Please contact any of us for recommendations.

We are the delighted owners of a recently finished project by Kelly Shannon of 2 Blue Chairs. From first contact it was reassuringly evident that Kelly was interested in creating a space that reflected our design esthetic. Through a series of meetings he agreeably tweaked the design and guided us through the selection of finishes while remaining sensitive to the budget from start to finish.
Having Kelly engaged in the construction phase brought the project to life. With his excellent communication skills, eye for detail and building knowledge he coordinated the implementation of the design with the general contractor. This involvement proved invaluable. Kelly was always available for questions and assistance with decisions.
We asked for an updated kitchen, laundry room and patio that blended with our mid century home. The finished product is more than we could have imagined - both lovely and highly functional. Kelly Shannon listened and we ended up with a timeless space that continues to reveal to us the beauty of a 2 Blue Chairs well designed plan.

Kelly has completely redesigned a bathroom, bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen.
It all started with a meeting in which Kelly went over the (old) house and started asking questions. Almost all of the questions were about me, how I lived and what I liked. "Strange", I thought at the time. Only later did it become clear that Kelly was trying to formulate a picture about me that would help him in his decisions. He listened.
In all the proposals and discussions, I would often ask him which of the options he liked. His response was always the same: "Well, I'll be happy to tell you what I like but why don't you tell me which one you like first."
The other thing I really like about Kelly is that he is not afraid to give you an opinion when he thinks you are about to make a big mistake accompanied with lots of reasons why he thinks so.
I have enjoyed working with Kelly. He has given me a house (and most especially a kitchen) in which I enjoy spending a lot of time. I hope to have him work on other projects.

When my wife and I decided to do a complete gut job and remodel of our kitchen, we first thought we could come up with a concept and design on our own. Immediately it was apparent we were way over our heads. Having been familiar with another 2 Blue Chairs project, we choose to interview Kelly. From our first meeting we knew that Kelly’s priority was to create a space that we wanted and, more importantly, that functioned and worked for our family. He really listened to our wants and needs and then built his design around that. The end product is both functional and beautiful, and only time will tell, but I believe it will also hold up well and not become dated in a few short years. Kelly was very detailed and exceptional at managing the project. One of the things that impressed me most was that Kelly was prompt and accessible – he actually answers his phone and returns emails. He worked very well with our contractor and the subs. Our builder even used one of Kelly’s subs which saved us substantially. Overall, I think that if you choose to use Kelly and 2 Blue Chairs, you can expect to get a designer who will a) listen to your needs and ideas; b) give you very professional and adept service; c) deliver an end product that is both beautiful and functional.

I've worked with Kelly on 3 projects. The first one was primarily a color consult on paint colors. I wanted the house to feel more current and open and bright. I had recently relocated from living at the beach and was missing that so Kelly gave me that feeling throughout the home. Everyone that visited the house commented on how soothing and welcoming it felt. When I moved and made the home a rental property, it rented in a snap- I do attribute this in part to Kelly's color recommendations.
Our next project was to be a nearly complete remodel with my finance. We absolutely loved Kelly's design and color selection and everything. But in the end it was decided that making that house into what we wanted was going to take too long and be too costly, so we shelved the project and purchased a different home nearby that would be easier and faster to update. We are still holding onto the plans though and may do that remodel at a later date.
So our third project was updating our current home, which we bought together. Kelly's color choices, which were based on color tests he had given us individually for the prior project , have been wonderful to live with. People compliment them often. He helped us to completely reconfigure the den at the back of the house to be more useful and it is now one of my favorite rooms in the house. He designed a bar with built in wine cooler and beverage fridge and lots of cabinets for storage. Which all matches the room and the kitchen perfectly but also left plenty of space for a great laundry room and butler's pantry. He also designed great additional cabinet space for the kitchen which provided a space for a built in look for a small microwave and a lot of open cabinet storage.
Kelly is great to work with, reliable and trustworthy. He listens well and helps you to see the possibilities that you wouldn't think of without his input. I recommend him to all my friends.

Two years ago I purchased a home built in the 1950's that had not been loved since the 1950's. I hired Kelly to oversee a remodel that included expanding and redesigning the kitchen and bathroom. By the end of the project, Kelly had assisted with everything from architectural drawings to selecting the most appropriate light bulb for the bathroom fixtures.
Kelly spent a tremendous amount of time finding out exactly what was important to me and how I wanted the home to both live and look. His taste is spot on, and although he guided me through every decor decision, I wound up with a product that feels 100% ME.
I've heard countless remodeling horror stories, but when I think back to my project it is only with the fondest of memories. Kelly was patient, creative, crafty, thorough and FUN to work with.
Everyone should be so lucky as to have a designer like Kelly!

The part of this review that makes us the happiest is her comment "...I wound up with a product that feels 100% ME.".
This perfectly illustrates what the 2 blue chairs represent: a DIALOGUE that leads to attractive, comfortable, and highly-functional spaces, with choices that protect the clients' investment and produce DESIGN that is UNIQUELY THEIRS.
