I've been fortunate to light numerous design intensive projects for Brett, Mike and the Balzer + Tuck team of designers in New York. Their projects are as varied as their clients, from small rustic mountain cabins to newly remodeled golf and polo clubs. As an architectural lighting designer, I use lighting to enhance the architectural design for clients. The construction document sets that B+T produces are easy to follow and understand. Even their early stage submittals include 3D line drawings and color renderings. I can't say enough about their work. On top of all that - they are really great people!

Brett worked with us to design our new home. He helped bring our vision of a woodsy warm contemporary home to life. We ended up with truly a one of a kind that is perfect for us in every way. We enjoyed the process and felt we had all the time we needed to get to where we wanted to be with the design.

We have the privilege of working with balzer + tuck architecture frequently on new construction projects as well as remodels and additions, and have never found them to be anything other than exceptional. We worked with Michael Tuck of Balzer+Tuck Architects to design our custom lakeside home. We quickly developed an open and effective working relationship that served us well throughout the project which was particularly important since we live out of state. We started our process with Michael by describing how we function in our home, how we entertain, celebrate holidays, and the importance of having comfortable living space for multiple generations. Michael listened carefully and was able to incorporate our wish list into the design. Our home has exceeded our expectations by comfortably accommodating large extended family gatherings and serving well when we are just a small group. Equally important, Michael guided the development of the building site with an appreciation for the natural character. We would highly recommend Balzer + Tuck Architecture. They were highly professional and thorough from the very beginning of the process. They paid attention to the desired changes we wanted and needed for our historical 1790's home. They spent countless hours in our home taking pictures, measuring and paid attention to the historical character and details that we wanted to recapture in our addition. I cannot say enough positive things about my experience working with Balzer+Tuck! Always taking into account all of our thoughts and ideas, combined with their expertise, they designed a home for us that surpassed our dreams. We were living in Asia while the house was designed and built, so after our initial meetings, our communication with them was largely over Skype and email. Despite the time difference between us, they were always available, very responsive, and completely professional. When small adjustments had to be made, they were quick to re-think and re-design to give us the home we now love so much! Working with B+T was a completely positive experience, and I recommend them 100%!

My husband and I asked Balzer + Tuck to design a new home in Saratoga Springs NY that sits nicely on a hilltop, overlooking the Adirondack Mountains and sunsets galore, focused on a New England vernacular with modern esthetics and plenty of room for entertaining and comfortable living. They NAILED it. They listened to our objectives and designed a home that met each and every one. They were creative, professional and terrific to work with. If you're building in upstate New York, you need to talk to these guys. They're work speaks for itself.
