Bump

Any chance of a photo of the space and the fixture in question? Ideally you want 12-16" from the edge of the island/table (for aesthetics and so nobody bumps their head) HOWEVER, the "visual weight" of the fixture does play a roll on how big you can go.

What is the style of the kitchen? Consider using track lighting that is also stainless. Track lighting is usually long and will look perfectly with the island.

I don't see a problem going with a rubbed bronze. It's more important that any fixtures nearby share a similar finish rather than trying to match the appliances IMHO. Do they by chance make that fixture in a double rather than triple shade? A double-shade would be less "weighty" I believe. Maybe similar to these?
