What is the wood on the walls? How is it protected from bathroom moisture?

Looks like v-groove pine. Probably sealed with clear lacquer to protect from moisture. My husband works with this material A LOT, in his custom cabinet and construction business. It is very versatile, durable, affordable, and BEAUTIFUL. :)
