It depends on how much time, money and effort you are willing to put into it. The less expensive and less time consuming option would be to paint. Unless it's a valuable piece of furniture, in which case you should spend the money to have it refinished.

Interesting design. Try taking it outside to clean off, then take additional photos where light is bright. You can include a coin or a ruler for scale.

I found it outside. Poor thing was abandoned. No money in it all. The feet are in great condition so are the spindles. Thinking about polishing them and paint the top and the shelf but what color?
