I think that if you decide to go the eclectic route in this room, the two can happily coexist together - given the addition of accessories and spacial compatibility. It's not a huge dining area- and we are painting it that sage color peeking out at the top of the hutch. I think it can work...

Does the hutch come in black? That would be a better combination. Another option, if you're up to it, is to stain the table a darker color.
