what is the best way to give "new life" to wood paneling in a traditional Tudor style home. What type of finish is on the walls in this photo?

This home was built about 2005 from flawless clear fir planks and beams. It has a stain and clear satin finish. (shade and mfg. unspecified)

I was the photographer. Almost everything in this main house and adjoining carriage house was custom made or a one-of-a-kind vintage piece.
