Good morning and happy Veterans Day!

I was thinking....you know how I said my name looks like olldboob? It's a good thing my name isn't Buttercup! hehehe

feeny, are you feeling any better? I was thinking of you yesterday, we got our flu shots and DH got sick immediately and was sick all day. Poor baby! Probably just coincidence.

So what's happening?

Good morning olldbob! What's on your agenda for today?

olldbob, your expertise in painting kitchen counters is needed on this thread:

Thanks, feeny, caught it and replied with pics. Sorry you're still sick! Maybe you should see the doctor and get some antibiotics.

creeser, I don't know if anything's on our agenda today, DH still asleep and I don't know if he's feeling any better. How about you and your agenda?

Side note - they built a new outlet shopping center on the other side of the Altamont, in Livermore. Very exclusive, high brow stores (Bloomingdale's etc) and it just opened on Thursday. Traffic is unbelievable. Not going there for a long, long time, at least not til January!

I think we're going to church this morning. I'm not hacking coughing as much and my ears popped open, so maybe the plague is going away and I can hear the sermon this week. After that, we're going to stake out where I'm putting my garden in the front of the house and looking for a video on how to build an outdoor oven.

Are you sick too? What on earth is going around and please, Lord, let it avoid me.

You're planting a garden in the fall? What kind of garden?
  • creeser
Yep. Been sick for about a week. The week before that, I had slipped and walked with a limp. One more thing and hubby's going to take me out behind the barn and shoot me.
Instead of a formal flower garden in the front, I'm fencing in and doing raised beds with a graveled walkway in between them. We're setting that up and I can actually plant rosemary and some winter kale right now. Mostly, I just want to get the beds ready for spring.

It's true that antibiotics are useless against viruses, but viruses can meld into infections. If it goes on too long promise me you'll see a doctor. Then, the next day you'll feel amazingly better and a co-pay shorter.

creeser, I seriously doubt if DH will take you behind the barn and shoot you!

A couple-three years ago I had the worse case of Shingles ever. Two trips to emergency, fainting, vomiting, all in the ER. Finally went to see a pain management doctor who was so wonderful! Gave me a prescription for Lyrica which is a miracle medicine for nerve pain. Thought I was dieing. In fact, I asked DH if anyone pulled him aside and told him to make my last days as comfortable as possible! Just a little drama here.

I'll have to pass that on to my mother. She developed shingles a couple of years ago and keeps getting awful flareups.

I want a tribble! And, yes, creeser, have your mom get some Lyrica, it's a miracle medicine. I get flare ups everytime I get my butt on the treadmill.

Her's flares up every time she gets stressed more than normal. I will tell her about the Lyrica. She took Valtrex when she first got them and had a horrible reaction. Since Lyrica is a whole different type of meds, I think I can get her to ask our doctor for a prescription. Thank you!

Can I ask you ladies a question, those of you who have dogs? How do you keep their wet noses from imprinting the sliding glass door?

You know, we had a really bad time with Rocky shedding all over the place, and then one day we ran out of dog shampoo and we used Tresomme Color Protection (human) shampoo and he has never shed again! It's totally weird, you might try it.

Hi everyone. Colds, flu…feeny, creeser hope you are feeling better.

olldbob, sometime flu shots can put you under, but maybe DH has been kissing feeny and creeser behind your back :>).

Also, for shingles pain sometimes an anti-depressant, amitriptyline, is used successfully.

My hubby had a bad weekend…atrial fibrillation, had an esophageal endoscopy to look for clots (none thank goodness), then an ablation, which burns the chamber of the heart which is misfiring, and then back to the E R because he wasn't feeling so hot. Waiting for the cardiologist to call to let me know when he can come home. This man is in such great shape! Runs 4 x a week, a very good tennis player, refs college basketball, not an extra pound on him (if he survives this I am taking him out behind the garage :>) and shoot him.) Doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, you know….boring ! Go figure. He's such a cutie; I feel so bad for him.

I have a new job, working on a remodel, choosing paints, counters, etc. Fun, but a little stressful.

We have kitty cat art here. She leaves me all sorts of schmarm everywhere. Thought I'd clean out the garage a bit and she brought me a chipmunk just to let me know she loves me.

Beautiful day on Cape Cod…sunny about 68.

    Hi MM

    Talk later…

OH, geez, judyg, I hope your husband is allright. Please keep us up to date.

DH had a nasty flu bug, I think. There were a lot of 'honey-do's' that needed doing, hmmm....Went to work with a smile this morning. Well, at least one of us is smiling. The other one is pretty pissed off.

feeny, how's your flu bug? Are you feeling better yet? And your son? Yes, I would prefer nose art to gopher guts!

judy, he will be fine. He's got a head start on most people by already being in such great shape. All heart issues are scarey, but he will be home and underfoot in no time. And you will love every minute of it! :)

G'day ladies. Boy what a bunch of crocks we are!! Spent yesterday in bed myself, much to BH's disgust, but all your problems make me feel like I am a wuss.

Sorry to hear about your DH judy, that must have been such a fright for you. Surprisingly, his problem isn't uncommon in super fit people, in fact they are more prone to it because of all their activity that dilates the heart chambers. Maybe he needs to discuss his routine with his specialist.

Interesting your Veteran's Day on Sunday it was our Remembrance Day where we observe a minute's silence at the 11th Hour on the 11th Day of 11th Month and wreaths are laid at cenotaphs and remembrance services held.

Nothing much to report on here, still a bit slow. Decided to have a drastic cull of all my linen, so much is years old but hardly used. Daughter called by Monday night and took all the tablecloths I lovingly embroidered many, many moons ago (glad she appreciated the work that went into them), today my neighbour called by and happily walked out with all my place mats and serviettes I never use now, and then I filled 11 bags and took them to our local WIRES who were very excited to receive it all. Didn't realise how much of my mother's linen I still had too. My linen cupboard looks like a cave now.

Still so tired, get better everyone.
