It certainly depends - in this case, since the garage side wall was pushed out a few feet (all the glass area is new) we had some structural considerations. The flooring was laid over sleepers to so that it would be level - but also to accommodate radiant floor piping. The garage door (back of the photo) was custom made to look like a garage door from the outside, although it was built as an insulated wall and window - on hinges and wheels.(For City Zoning purposes, the door needed to function as a garage door so the room could convert to garage use.)
