Story with a good ending!!!! Never give up!!!

Three months ago I purchased an overhead light for my newly renovated kitchen and posted this first picture to get advice on how to make it work it my kitchen: it was way too large and industrial. Almost everyone who commented said get rid of the light; it was awful. A few brave souls suggested a new table and chairs to better incorporate the light and I did. Thankfully I love it and am so glad I followed the few brave hearts who said there was hope. I like it and want to know if others agree it is attractive and better proportioned? For dimensions sake, the table is 98" x 58" wide. HUGE!

Before you had a rectangular light and oval table....not a match......also the light is more modern and the dining set was more "colonial"...not a match either!! You have now made this area totally AWESOME and gorgeous!! Congratulations on finding just the right dining set to go with the light, and for NOT "giving up" on it....Mission Accomplished !!

I have a good alternative idea! For a romantic evening of dining put those Flame Flickering Lights in to create the look of candles! That would show beautiful!

Funny you mentioned the candle lights, as we had to put a dimmer on the light because 8 40 watt bulbs looked like a firework explosion and gave off way too much light so the dimmer makes it fun!!!

Remodel789- We ordered the table from a kitchen cabinet maker in Alabama called Wellborn Cabinets. We couldn't find a table the size we needed so they will do custom sizes. We are very pleased, and this table weighs over 250 pounds! Very sturdy.

This is a close up of the top. The finish is rustic but I love the easy care and low worry about taking care of a wood top table with children.

Love it. I think a patterned rug with some darker color in some spots would anchor the whole thing. Love large objects in small places. It makes a wonderful statement.

Wow what a difference it looks fabulous ! I do agree with Diana V. McLean the rug could use some pattern bring a little blue for the darkness and it needs to be a little larger rule is 18" to 24" added to each side for the chairs to be pulled out and visually pleasing. Other than that great job.!

To really complete the look I would update your counter stools. Upholstered stools in a complementary fabric would look great!

So glad you got to see the new table and chairs' pictures. My family was all so thrilled it made such a difference in the room. Not sure it wasn't that we grew accoustomed to the light but it really doesn't seem too large and overpowering anymore. We love Using such a big easy to care for table. Thanks again for being one of only two to say we could possibly make the light work!

The paint is from Sherwin Williams called "Wool Skein" SW-6148. It does have a wash over it and I don't think it has a name, it was a mix by the cabinet maker.
