Did you have the countertop custom made for the vanity? If so, is there an edge on the backside of the countertop or is it left unfinished?

counter tops are unfinished in the back and should be contoured to the wall, the tile backsplash looks like it falls bhind the counter in this case you need caulking to seal off the area

In this case the vanity actually came with the marble top.
