I want to build an island using cabinets 48" wide by 24" deep. How much depth is added with the raised panel? how many supports would you recommend under a granite top 14" x 48"? Thank you :)

The island shown is actually 48" deep and then we have a 3/4" panel that raises the bartop height to 42". For support, we had three stainless steel Z-brackets constructed that were attached to the floor, the base cabinet and the 3/4" panel and extended under the bartop overhang. The corbels shown are more for looks as they would not be able to support the weight of the countertop...they are notched out for the stainless steel supports so that the stainless steel supports are fully concealed.
