When it comes to dining room rugs, it's usually better to go too big than too small. Our designers usually recommend adding 24"+ to the table top measurements.

Sanoma...would you recommend using a larger rug even if it cuts into the walk way to the living room.

By cutting off thee walkway, do you mean that people would have to step on the rug when proceeding to the living room? I don't know if that would be a problem, but I do know that the current size is not practical and doesn't look right. Good luck.

Return the rug; much too small. Skip a rug unless you pursue a custom size; you could check a wool patterned carpet and surge seams for custom, economical rug. Yes to mirror, with perhaps console below and relocate the pics to another wall.

The rug is too small, but the DR and the "walkway" to the LR looks a little cramped even without stepping on a rug. Have you tried rotating the table 90 degrees to make the flow easier?

The rug is too small and any larger it will become a tripping hazard in the doorway. Also the pictures are too high and IMO too busy maybe just one large piece of art on the wall and use those for a gallery wall in a hallway and i agree try turning the table.

@sillicanolli, yes I assumed she would rotate the light fixture as well. Unless it's up with 2 boxes, it would probably not be too tough.
