How can glazing work to soften a mean green mistake?

I choose a dark blue green color for a powder room. The walls are chopped into stall like walls so it could be worse. We went to the paint store and we were given the suggestion of using glaze with a lighter tint to mix 50-50. We don't know how to apply. Any suggestions ?
