I would eliminate the dark scroll pattern carpet in favor of tile with an area rug or a light neutral wall to wall carpet. You might also consider a light colored slip cover on the sofa to help create the light and airy coastal look you desire. I love the sophistication of this white and sand colored living area.

I would add photography to the walls. You can choose beach scenes or whatever appeals to you. Photography can be grouped in a collage with similar frames or as enlargements. You can have it printed on canvas or regular photography paper and should be mounted if an enlargement so it will stay flat. I find photography very uplifting because it is so realistic. Etsy.com is a great site to visit photography shops and I have one, nancyhehmann. I use a nationally noted photography lab and can customize any of the scenes you see on my site. I am looking at a beautiful lighthouse right now from Savannah. I also have some from the outer banks I have not posted yet.
There are other photography shops on Etsy as well as paintings.

I agree with above houzzer comments - the wall colors appear different in both photos or do you want to consider a light blue like BM color of the year: Breath of Fresh Air on the walls? or keep it monochromatic?
