Santa Cecilia is a lovely granite, Take your colour cues from it, and from your area rug. Highly likely that some tan colours are shared between the countertop and the rug. Current colour on the walls is very light. Suggest new colour be darker and richer. Darker colour will also coordinate better with the seating area off the kitchen.
Also please centre that huge mirror, it commands the space. It too will show nicely on a richer colour.

Thanks brendakusan...definately will be centering the mirror over the sofa. It was only in the current position while waiting for the sofas to arrive.

I think the builder's beige looks pretty nice. It picks up the lighter granite flecks and the Navajo white cabinets look fresh against the beige. I also like the way the sofa seems a darker tan against the beige and all the red accents "pop" with the wall color. I would definitely leave the colors as they are.

The darker drapes, floor, island, and rug give good weight to the room without affecting the warm, inviting airiness of the room. I would be concerned that a darker wall color would stifle the current wonderful ambiance of the two rooms.

I also am glad you are centering the mirror over the sofa.

I almost hate to say this because it's such an over used color suggestion. BM's Revere Pewter. I once swore I'd never suggest gray again because I'm so over gray but this color would be perfect for both your spaces.:)
