How can I get a refund from my interior designer?

Signed a letter of agreement with an interior decorator who acted as a general contractor with no license as a contractor that I can find. Gave this decorator $25K and completed two jobs on the list totaling $10K. I terminated our agreement and this decorator will not give me an itemization of my money spent nor a refund and refuses to speak to me. I have no issue with paying for services rendered but no items were ordered or approved beyond the two jobs. I am disappointed that this decorator is not acting like the professional she claims to be. Any ideas of what I can do to get her attention?

Yes, get in contact with a lawyer. What you can or can't do will depend on what is in the letter of agreement. The fact that you were the one to terminate the agreement may have an impact on what you can do depending on what is in the letter of agreement.

You say you had two jobs on the list completed. What jobs were not completed? Why did you terminate the agreement if there was still more to be done?

Consulted an attorney and he sent a ”Demand Letter” with no response.

Yep, follow through with your lawyer. They will be able to lead you through the best course of legal action.

I ahve no idea what was in the contract so working in the dark You terminated the contract what was the reason why did you pay 25K up front for what . To get help IMO you would need to post the contract so if you trully believe you were ripped off you need a lawyer not a bunch of strangers with no info. The time to check if they are licensed is before you sign a contract.
