It's hard to imagine what piece of furniture would look good next to the entertainment unit. I think what you're considering would look awkward and out of place. If you don't like the space bare, try some art. One large piece or a grouping of several pieces.

I also don't think another piece of furniture next to your entertainment unit would look appropriate. Use that space for some decor such as a large canvas (that coordinates with your decor) and a large plant or plant grouping.

You could place a bench under the artwork which would still give you access to the thermostat and light switches.

Thank you! i was leaning towards a lower prifile puece of furniture that provides us storage and adding a piece of art above it. My husband however thinks something tall would look better. since we found a tall piece thats very nice and fits our decor but i thibk it wouldn't look that good due to the height. either way neither would cover thermostat.
