In addition to the ideas suggested in abby72's discussion, a large wall unit housing the tv with bookcases or cabinets on the side will anchor the tv.

The upper wall could then be utilized as an art wall of large paintings (3' x 5', 4' x4', 5' x 5', 4' x 6' etc.). I have seen this done successfully using all contemporary paintings in one case and with all Southwestern Indian art in another case. The art made both rooms very enveloping and gave purpose to the huge expanse of wall surface. It will help to use one type of art for consistency.
