We have red oak floors and are trying to achieve this look with difficulty, any ideas? Also, what is a "Swedish finish"?

Really? I've never seen white oak with so many knots. I just love the finish and wonder if I could get the same look on the red oak we are laying

Safe mommy, trying to achieve the look as well. If laying to red oak hardwoods, lumber liquidators offers three grades of red oak, try the rustic grade. Offers the most variation in the boards. In regards to stain, try a minwax blend of 50% ebony and 50% Jacobean, possibly two coats

The door is select oak with a mix of coffee and ebony stain. It is a matte finish. Hope this answers your question.

Why did you choose a white oak rather than a red oak? We want to use a dark walnut stain and I just assumed we should use a red oak b/c it's darker?
