Floating floor and fireplace disaster

Had no idea how much nailed down vs floating mattered until they installed my floating floor. They use t-molding that does not even match to make up for the expansion room needed (such a novice I had no idea beforehand). Hate, hate, hate the t-molding around the fireplace - need a better way to handle the area. Willing to re-tile.
